10 decades, 10 milestones

1924

Gustav Overbeck, a talented mechanic, started his own company in Herborn with a small workshop under 30 m².

After some tough years due to the economic depression, things got better: orders from the aviation industry boosted sales and Overbeck could invest in the development of drilling and polishing machines.

1940

  • The first Overbeck ZETTO internal grinding machine was launched
  • Overbeck participated for the first time in exhibitions
  • The sales department was established both locally and internationally

1950

Overbeck's internal grinding machines represent over 25% and external cylindrical grinding machines over 15% of total German grinding machine production.

1960

The Overbeck 250/350 machine is launched and expanded its product range, incorporating six new internal grinding machines.

The product portfolio is diversified:

  • IR series of hydraulic precision radius grinding machines
  • Precision cylindrical grinding machine type 600R
  • Internal grinding machines 250 I / 400 I / 600 I
  • Coordinate grinding and drilling machine K400

1980

  • Development of dedicated grinding machines for the roller bearing industry
  • Development of a CNC internal grinding machine: 400 I-CNC
  • In 1987 the first machine with out-of-round software for cam grinding was delivered

Development and launch of the IC-400 internal grinding machine, with the first digital CNC control Siemens 840D.

  • Overbeck and Danobat joined forces to build a collaborative project
  • New linear motor machines are developed for the ID, IRD and IEV series
